Samayapuram Māriamman Temple
The mother of healing, second only to Palani in offerings
⭐ Why it is famous
One of Tamil Nadu's richest and most visited Ammaṉ temples, where the image is of sand and clay and never bathed — only the smaller image receives abhiṣeka. Devotees roll around the prākāra and offer māvilakku for cures.
📜 Pilgrimage history
Tradition says the image was left behind near Srirangam and installed here, growing into a great shrine under the Vijayanagara and Nāyaka rulers. The Chithirai Poo Chorithal and the flower-car festival draw huge crowds.
