⭐ Why it is famous
The 1,200-metre pillared corridor, the 22 tīrtha wells whose water is poured over pilgrims before darśan, and the liṅga installed by Rāma to expiate the killing of Rāvaṇa.
📜 Pilgrimage history
Expanded over centuries by the Pandyas, the Jaffna kings and above all the Sethupathi rulers of Ramanathapuram, who built the great corridors in the 17th–18th centuries.
