Water perpetually seeps around the liṅga from an underground stream; Akhilāṇḍeśvarī here wears tāṭaṅkas installed by Ādi Śaṅkara.

Built by the early Chola king Kocengannan around the 2nd century CE, with medieval expansions and five prākāras.
