Why it is famous

An 18-foot reclining Viṣṇu seen through three doors, and the temple vaults whose treasure made world headlines in 2011.

📜 Pilgrimage history

Referenced in Sangam literature; rebuilt in its present form in 1750 when Marthanda Varma dedicated the kingdom of Travancore to the deity as Padmanābha Dāsa.
