Why it is famous

The samādhi (gaddige) of the 15th-century Vīraśaiva mystic Tontada Siddhaliṅga Yati, one of Karnataka's most visited roadside shrines; the annual jātre fills Yediyur for a fortnight.

📜 Pilgrimage history

Siddhaliṅga Yati, author of the Ṣaṭsthala Jñānasāra vacanas, is said to have entered samādhi here in living meditation. The temple tank and maṇḍapas grew around the gaddige over the following centuries.
