Śrī Raṅganātha Temple, Shivanasamudra
Madhya Raṅga
The middle Raṅga of the Kāverī's three
⭐ Why it is famous
The second of the Raṅga-traya — Ādi Raṅga at Srirangapatna, Madhya Raṅga here, and Antya Raṅga at Srirangam. Pilgrims who complete all three on one day of Vaikuṇṭha Ekādaśī consider the merit complete.
📜 Pilgrimage history
The shrine on the island where the Kāverī splits into the Gaganachukki and Bharachukki falls is credited to the Ganga period and expanded by the Hoysalas and Vijayanagara. The nearby power station of 1902 was Asia's first hydro-electric plant.
