A boy Gaṇapati who takes only coconuts and jaggery
⭐ Why it is famous
The rare two-armed standing bāla Gaṇapati, and an offering tradition of coconut, jaggery and durvā rather than elaborate naivedya. Around a million pilgrims come each year, many before starting a new venture.
📜 Pilgrimage history
The sthala purāṇa places the installation at the start of Kaliyuga by Valakhilya ṛṣis on Nārada's advice. The present granite structure dates from the Vijayanagara period, with 20th-century additions by the temple trust.
