⭐ Why it is famous

A thirteenth-century Hoysala trikūṭa (three-shrine) temple with soapstone friezes of elephants, horses and epic scenes wrapped around a star-shaped plinth.

📜 Pilgrimage history

Built around 1250 under the Hoysalas at old Benkipura, the temple carries inscriptions of grants by local chiefs and is protected as a monument of national importance.
