Why it is famous

The yoni-pīṭha of the Devī on Nilachal hill, with no image — only a spring-fed cleft in rock — and the Ambubāchī Melā when the temple closes for the Devī's menses.

📜 Pilgrimage history

Rebuilt in 1565 by Koch king Naranarayan after destruction; the site is a very old Tantric seat with the ten Mahāvidyā shrines around it.
