⭐ Why it is famous
Between 50,000 and 100,000 pilgrims take darśan every single day, and far more during Brahmotsavam. The mūla virāṭ, a black stone Venkateswara adorned with diamonds, is worshipped as the Kaliyuga Vaikuṇṭha.
📜 Pilgrimage history
Inscriptions record royal gifts from the Pallavas, Cholas, Pandyas and above all Krishnadevaraya of Vijayanagara, who visited seven times. Rāmānujācārya organised its worship in the 11th century, and the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams has administered the hill since 1933.
