⭐ Why it is famous

One of only two sites that is both a Jyotirliṅga and a Śakti Pīṭha, set in the Nallamala forest above the Krishna river.

📜 Pilgrimage history

Mentioned in the Mahābhārata; Ādi Śaṅkara composed the Śivānanda Lahari here. The Vijayanagara mandapams and the sculpted prākāra wall are 14th–16th century.
